My Day In Rockford IL
Being a big fan of AHL hockey games, I recently had the opportunity to attend a Rockford IceHogs hockey game at their home base in Rockford, Illinois. Since our wedding anniversary was during the same week, my wife and I booked a room at an excellent hotel there for a special long weekend.
I have to say, Rockford is a very nice city and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. Prior to our visit, I went to Rockford’s local chamber of commerce website to learn about hotel and restaurant options, and found the site to be quite useful.
Thanks to the reliable information on the chamber of commerce’s site, we found a clean and attractive room at a reasonable price, and discovered several top-rate restaurants. We were especially pleased with a downtown eatery that serves breakfast all day, as well as a wonderful Italian eatery where we ate dinner two nights in a row.
We also found the architecture of many of the buildings in Rockford, Il to be very interesting. The Coronado Performing Arts Center downtown really stands out as a great example of classic American art-deco design.
The facility where the IceHogs play their home games is named the BMO Harris Bank Center and I would say that it is one of better arenas that I’ve visited.
